Mastery improves the player, not just the equipment they are currently wearing.

Confirmed upgrade paths include:
❤️ Vitality
Increases permanent maximum health.
💨 Agility
Increases permanent movement speed.
Mastery upgrades cost Shards and scale as progression increases.
Because Mastery is permanent RPG progression, it is one of the strongest reasons to keep investing in Nightmare beyond simply replacing gear.
